Games have to be more practical unlike art though, if people don't can't get into the game because of the learning curve then ultimately it hurts gaming as a whole as it turns people away, not everyone out there is looking to be an over the top hardcore player many are just playing just to chill out. The's also the topic of are games easier because they're dumbed down or because it's a combination of things like players becoming better, more complete and realized game design etc... Many games of old were hard because of design flaws or the simple case of a limit to the number of lives, you lost on a level a few times you go back to the start of the game giving you little chance to figure out the best approach where as today you just do the level again until you get the hang of it.
