I think Sony and MS both screwed up big by not making them backwards compatible. The market for the past gen will be more important, because of Achievements/Trophies. The generations before didn't bother people much, because there really was no proof of your game achievements and gaming history, plus the fact that HD remakes were coming out with them. Seems like both companies just wanted to cut 2-3 years off of their life cycles by going straight to slim/budget models, bypassing the launch premium models.
