Oooo, that might be it. I can't believe I forgot about Pokemon when referring to mainstream JRPG's!

However.....I would say Diamond/Pearl marks the lowpoint for the series. Kyogre and Gruddon are at least pretty awesome NOT DRAGON legendaries.
