While I still think they're a step above crytek, I couldn't agree more on the premise of what ure saying. I just posted something talking about this.
They have the skeletal structure of a AAA developer, but they're just missing a few major pieces. They need a few developers with skill in storytelling and character development to the quality of naughty dog. Then they need just a couple developers who are masters in the gameplay dept.
