I disagree, they haven't surveyed the tower...
It's not that much of a victory, Naughty Dog will show them who's boss in a year. I also thought the whole arguement about Halo was that since it was open, it couldn't compete with more linear games graphically? Here we have the more open Killzone vs the strictly linear Ryse and it is a very close fight, but Killzone runs at 30+fps (reportedly) at 1080p and Ryse runs at 30-fps at 900p.
It is definitely not a great victory

Its an awesome victory. If you get the chance, no matte what goggles anyone wears I'd love to film peoples faces when they are shown Edge Of the World for the first time on a big HD TV. Even PC folks are impressed. The lighting in this level is rediculous. And the clarity of the textures are stupidly real. But its when fighting starts it just looks surreal. Almost film like. And the boss battle in this level, well . Sod just at least owe to yourself to experience The King and Edge Of The World 2 levels one after the other.
As for Halo. Halo 4 by DF said it was right up the top fighting for supremecy when it released graphically. And that was after UC3 game out. So no 343i did a btter job last gen at making a much more open world game look and fight with linear games. With Ryse theirs a much more definitive Ryse Towers over "ALL"

I don't see how its "an awesome victory" Ryse is competing with Shadow Fall and despite you insisting it is the best looking game, views are divided. Most other games look worse on Xbox One, how is that a victory?
The article also says the game isn't fun...
Are you argueing that linear games don't make it more easy to impress than more open games?

Its a victory in respect that
Before launch people tried to say Xbox One was extremely weak. And part of it was due to being harder to develop for as IW said when making Ghosts.
Microsoft stood to their guns saying that the changes in architecture to the One that they made makes raw numbers less important.
And they are so far proved right.
It may bite them a little in 3rd party games being more easily optimized on PS4 similar to PS3/360. But first party games are off to a good start. Hopefully my hunch on QB and Halo 5 continuing that trend next year is right.
All in all, if people didnt dismiss Microsoft comments on hardware so fast, then this wouldnt be such a big surprise. But it is because what people were saying about the hardware before launch.
