But there is more than power. Memory also. Wii u has 5 times less memory available than next gen. And about the Gpu you may be right but don't ignore the difference between 0.160 Tflops and 1.2Tflops for X1 (with better tech). At last the CPU on Wii-U is too different than the jaguars and no doubt weaker than X360, forever preventing any direct X1/PS4 ports. Don't you see most developers now target for all next gen games X64 64bit 6 cores for CPU minimum, this target now routinely translated on PC version (COD)? So overall, Wii u has different barriers from X1/PS4 than Wii from X360, you are right here, but those barriers are nonetheless as much (or more) uncrosseable (5 times less memory, around 10 times less flops power if you average X1/PS4 gpu power, CPU separated by 10 years old tech gulf). |
Wii was easier for devs to handle out of the gate because it had the same architecture as the Gamecube; with Wii U, it's unfamiliar hardware.
With PS4/Xbone, there just aren't any paradigm shifts in how graphics are done this time around, like HD and programmable shaders, which separated Wii from PS3/360.
The law of diminishing returns is also in effect.
As for CPUS, even PS4/Xbone's CPUs are not a big leap over PS3/360. Cervat Yerli of Crytek was quoted as saying that "the CPU performance is better than last-gen but not by a huge margin."
