If they make a new Star Ocean game one day, a reboot wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also have you played Resonance of Fate Anfebious? Great game IMO and much better than SO4.

As good as the first game might have been, I don't know if their stories are really worth rebooting. Maybe if you mean just start fresh with another game but maintaining similar feel to the series. Only issue is that they would need to stop with the twist endings, which is the one of its only staples. Is it even really Star Ocean without one? IDK, I would still probably buy it if it comes to a platform I own.

Resonance of Fate is actually pretty cool. Haven't beat it yet but love the level of customization and battle system. Tough to master.

I mean just scrap the current SO world and start fresh. Make a new world. And without relying on SO3's twist.

Also which SO game had a twist ending? SO3 didn't have one (the major twist came earlier), neither did 4 (SO4 didn't even...really have much in the way of twists. The alternate Earth thing is kind of a surprise, but it felt more like a side event, and it doesn't have much of a relation to the main conflict, other than convincing Edge that forced evolution = bad).

Don't remember 2 having one either.

RoF is probably my favorite tri-Ace game. I need a sequel. Since tri-Ace is still working with Sega with Phantasy Star Nova I hope they get a shot at making one.

What I refer to in SO3 is this...

The entire game are stuck on the planet which is seemingly being attacked by a advance alien race. They looked like angels or something. Then Fayte, Sophia, and that blue haired girl all find that they have special powers that can be used to kill them. THey go to this other dimension to fight Luther who is a "4D being", an existance higher than yours. THe twist is that you are basically in a glorified version of the Sims in a very advanced world. Your AI has become corrupt and you want to destroy Luther the Creator before he deletes the "game".

In retrospect I don't hate the twist in itself but the way it was presented within the game.

SO2's is more subtle. It has the whole thing about the Wisemen that comes completely out of left field. SO First Chapter had a consistant plot, but when you fight the final boss there is this totally other boss and unrelated issue to the rest of the game.
