PS4, if it launched in 13 countries it would have sold way more than just 1 million. That 2.3 million gamers waiting for PS4 could have put the total over 3 million in 24 hours if supply was available.

What a remarkable number of people don't seem to realize is that the number of territories is irrelevant. BOTH produced a million consoles at launch. BOTH sold through all of those consoles. The only difference here is that the two companies allocated their consoles differently. Sony favored a US first launch while MS decided to be first in Europe. Yes, it can be argued that if Sony had also launched in Europe with ADDITIONAL supply, they would have sold more, but then it could also be argued that if Microsoft had more units available, they could have sold even more at launch. Because BOTH consoles have sold out and are now very scarce, so it is effectively a draw, regardless of the number of territories.

And yes, the launch numbers of both consoles are impressive, but I think it says more about Sony and MS's manufacturing capabilities then the long term future of their consoles. These first million were bought by the hardcore, die hards and early adopters. Even Wii U sold out at launch. What matters is the long haul, and the performance in the first quarter of next year will be a key indicator.

Edit: And yes, the Xbone IS sold out. I've been looking carefully for other consoles all day in case the one I was bought for Xmas from Microsoft Store didn't work, and the things are just GONE.
