I've been playing Killer Instinct on Xbox One and learning to play with characters isn't that difficult. However, mastering a character and learning affective tactics is another story. Your argument isn't valid.

Simply put, if you can see a significant difference between a beginner and skilled player, its a legitimate fighter.

 

That can be said for a vast majority of fighters/arena style games. Tekken, All-stars, Marvel vs Capcom come to mind in my experience (they are the last 3 fighting games i've purchased) 

The second bold is actually a pretty good point, kinda like a spammer and an actual fighter. Sure, you can learn a few good moves with a character and use them in small variety, but a practiced and seasoned player will tear you to pieces.
