I know people love to look at history to "prove" the future, but that's not how it works, especially with the gaming industry and market branching and dividing the way it is today. And that goes for everyone, I think a lot of people are getting way ahead of themselves with the PS4 and One having stellar initial sales, they might be in for a rude awakening in 2014 when the regular weekly sales set in. What do I think? I think the 8th gen will be a historical first; the home console market shrinks (software and hardware both) and the dedicated handheld market collapses entirely. The Wii U won't sell much and the PS4 and One will sell a lot less than people are thinking right now. |
while i do think the 8th gen will be the first gen that the entire video game market shrinks, i doubt the handheld market will collapse.
