An 8.3 metacritic average and a few million in sales. Make a list of all the games that scored higher and sold more since 2005. That list will show that you would have be to very generous and say quite a few games were "one of the best" in order to include Alan Wake and at that point the saying "one of the best" kinda loses its meaning. The only way to say that with a straight face is to admit that it's completely subjective. In which case, unlike what you claim, it can be denied that Alan Wake was one of the best games of the generation. Easily.
