You can update the firmware in any CD/DVD/BD drive... that's how hackers brooke 360 security.

You can't make it read faster can you? Are there differences in read speeds?

I think you could patch the way the console reads the data, since they both require full installs, I am sure they could get parity in terms of install times if the cause was anything other than a slower disc read speed
