Too much to reply to with quoting text, so I will just address people and comment.
@ultraslick:
You nailed my intention perfectly. Thanks.
@Hawk:
Thanks for the apology. No worried though :). The controls being an issue was really a side note to this thread. I must have hit a nerve with Wii fans on that one. Sorry. I find the controls better, yet I have always hated the “run around, then stand still to shoot” controls. My only reason for commenting on it was I was hoping the Wii version would have totally eliminated my only complaint about the game (and why I never played it). I was trying to say while the controls improved it, it did not remove it all together.
@BrainBoxLtd:
LOL, no one has ever told me I look like that guy before. I should watch that movie. Loved the first, thought the second one was kind of lame, never saw the third.
@Gnizmo:
Thanks for the tip on hitting Z, I will try that. Also I do think Meroid Prime would fit my tastes better. I will try that game next.
@Entroper:
You and I have the same opinion about control schemes. I would have replied to some of these on that, but you covered everything I would have said.
@Zen:
I will hook it up to a smaller TV and play it one more time. Hopefully I can get past the controls and graphics, as I am sure the story is awesome if I could get into it. This kind of game can only be appreciated if you get immersed into the experience. When you have to fight with the controls (I seem to always want to move back and shoot, which then causes me to sit in one spot and look down), and look at the dated graphics, it keeps you from getting into it.
@jlauro:
I have a top end Sony TV. It does 1080p.It’s LCOS (Liquid Crystal over Silicon). They don’t make them anymore because the new DLP TV’s, for all practical purposes, produce the same image and cost a lot less to make. SMG looks perfect on the TV, as does everything else I have played on it. I think it’s just due to the textures. If I play it on a smaller TV, the low resolution of them won’t be noticeable.
@Words Of Wisdom:
The thread didn’t go too bad. I just seem to have hit a topic that most people are emotional about. No one has resorted to name calling, like I have seen on so many other threads. It’s all good
To everyone:
This is the first time I have played an RE game, and to everyone that say’s it’s great looking… I am sure you played the GC or PS2 versions. I know that when I fall in love with a game, if I go back even 5 years later, it still looks great to me because of the attachment I have to it. If you are seeing this game for the very first time, it’s a different story all together. What I meant by the “I will use my Wii for what it's great for, and play the PS3 for everything else” comment is if you are playing a game where submissiveness is the point (Uncharted, Gears, CoD4) for me the graphics are very important. In everyone of those games, there was a point where I forgot I was playing a game, and felt like I was involved in the action. Games like SMG, any fighting game like Brawl, Monkey Ball, Wii Sports, any puzzle game, and the like do not require this kind of emersion to be fun, so playing them on a system that struggles to produce that (imo) is no loss at all. This is where the Wii shines with its control system.
That’s what I meant by it. Games like DMC4, FF, Gears, Mass Effect, and the like I will play on an HD console. All the games like SMG, Sports games, and anything else where whaling a controller around in my living room with a big grin on my face sounds like fun, I will use the Wii.
