With plenty of software development background I can assure you: the reason why most publishers/developers want more power on a console is just because they are lazy. They don't want to have to polish and optimize their codes for an specific architecture. They want to port their same crapptastic routines over and over
As long as gamers keep suporting those lazy companies they will keep doing the same.
I don't care anyways, Nintendo alone can't put more AAA games per year/gen than any other company in the world, so I don't need 3rd party lazyness.
