You bring up great points! I was expecting the whole "defend Nintendo" stance but I am surprised by an actual unbiased gamer on this site ;)

we shall agree to disagree on how Xenoblade stacks up as best JRPG of this gen, but both realize it's a great game in its own right. 

Well, I know that different people will come to different conclusions about the same game. It's not a lack of bias on my part - it's just common sense. Sometimes I like to get to the bottom of these disagreements, so it becomes clear what did and didn't work for people. Sometimes we learn new things about ourselves (and others) in the process).

Now, I probably wouldn't ever create a thread like this one. "Better" and "best" are terms I'd rather leave to the Top 50 Games thread or any thread which naturally assumes subjectivity. :P Although a JRPG comparison thread wouldn't be so bad if it centered around which makes each individual game tick, as the genre is extremely diverse in nature.
