My PS4 just died litteraly 5 minutes ago.

If you buy this console without an extended warranty your insane.

Trying to push the extended warranty purchases at Gamestop aren't you?  I bought an original DS (phat) at Gamestop back in college days.  I took it home and right out of the box I noticed the bottom touch screen was damaged.  I only went back to Gamestop because I was on the phone with Nintendo rep telling them that I just purchased the system and it was damaged out of the box (I lived across the street from a Gamestop so I was able to walk over there while still on the phone).  I had the employee tell them that I just bought the system there and eventually I was able to send the system back to Nintendo for a free replacement.  The Gamestop employee told me if I had purchased the warranty under Gamestop then it would have been used and voided with the return.  So basically it would have been worthless for my situation besides not having to wait for Nintendo to ship me another DS.

you would only ever need the extended warrenty beyond the first 30 days. Within that time frame you could return it to Gamestop(if thats where you bought it) to get another one. Only issue is that the system is out of stock. You would have to wait until they are replenished at some point.

If the system was in ready supply then yea....you could replace it now without a hitch, but it is always good to get the extended because as time goes on every electronic becomes more prone to failure.

Perhaps the Gamestop employee was trying to pull a fast one (or didn't want to take the system back and give me a new one but I went through Nintendo and issue was eventually resolved).  I added a little more to my previous post.  I did have a bad experience with a LG TV (my parents are trying to get the boards themselves on ebay to fix it).  New TVs might have an awesome pic but they don't last worth a shit compared to CRT TVs.  I did purchase a 3 year warranty on my new Toshiba LCD due to bad experience with my first LCD.

I work at Gamestop too, and I know some employees will try to fast talk a person out of doing refunds or getting replacements through them.

The only thing the 30 day warrenty doesn't cover at gamestop is laser burn(because that is deemed user error) and physical damage that appears to be done post purchase(which its hard to tell so they should do it anyway).

As long as you have that receipt which is key. Many people expect to be able to return things with no proof of when or where they purchased it. Just want to walk in the store and get a brand new system no question's asked.

and the 30 day warrenty covers USED and NEW. You just can't get cash/credit back for a defective purchase(Used you can within 7days). They can give you a replacement, something of equal value if the situation calls for it, or store credit to be used at another time.
