The list is missing the Xbox and GC which both had launch months that were better than the Wii's.

The Gamecube sold nearly 700k in it's first month. Pretty amazing considering how bad the lifetime sales were for the console. 

Well, it was cheap as fuck wasn't it? 

Yeah but it lacked a DVD player, which held back the price. I don't know what DVD players cost back then, but I'm sure they were more than the extra $100 the PS2 cost.
