3DS Miiverse Won’t Support Message Exchange Between Friends Or Friend Requests

Yeah, I can see why they did it, but it does suck a bit. Hope it won't downgrade the experience too much, if they can get people more vested in Miiverse with the 3DS as a side app it might get better support to upgrade more of its features.
