Maybe that's because NIntendo doesn't milk their franchises (Franchises, not characters) to the extreme like CoD and Assassins Creed, were it reaches a staleness point and becomes boring, That's why most of the Nintendo games feel like magic all over again. I'd say the most stale franchises from Nintendo are Mario Kart and Smash Bros, but those come out once in a generation and are always smash hits. If Sony or Microsoft could have a multi generation long lasting IP like that, believe me, they wouldn't drop it. But instead they have to come up with different worlds and franchises so everything feels new. |
People forget Nintendo franchises have history. So yeah... it may be Mario Kart 8 next year, but the first one was over 20 years ago!
Since 2007 there have been 6 main Assassin's Creed games (7 including liberation) and since 2003 there have been 10 main Call of Duty games. (11 counting the Vita release). More if you include the DS spin offs.
