Yeah, let's abandon a system we invested millions in developing, and which we have a huge backlog of software in the pipeline for, so we can burn our fans and start again from scratch with a new, expensive sytem that nobody will buy for fear that we'll once again pull the plug.

That's a recipe for bankruptcy.

They would also burn retailers with going back on earlier promises. A big issue with also greatly underminded Sega's consoles run.
