There are plenty of other diseases than just HIV. Some are worse than others, but people deal with them and live lives.
Life is not a safe thing. Do you ever thing about how many people slip and die in the shower and bathrooms? It's the most dangerous room in the house. Life isn't safe, we all know (well most of us) that we are probably going to die of something.
'Safer Sex' is just that. It's not fool proof. But it's a much better option than telling kids with fear-mongering that they should never have sex until marriage. Marriage is too important to make it just about sex. Then they usually get all messed up about it and act out in worse ways.
Life has risk - when you leave your house, take a ride in a car, walk along the street, or go to the bathroom. Someone has died doing just that. There is no risk free way to life. You manage, do your best, put on your seatbelt and condom, etc.
