This thread fails to take into account a wide variety of factors. I'm sure many people have thought certain outcomes before a generation started were going to be obvious, but ended up being totally wrong. In fact, I know this happened many times. It definitely happened with the DS, Wii, PS3, 3DS, and I'm guessing that people didn't see the success of the PS1 coming (the extent of it).
