This sentance here proves you're wrong, since you basing your opinion the belief trophies are arbitrary rewards only. Gamers feel differently about them.

"Gamers" do not have a fixed universal opinion on trophies. Different gamers feel differently about them.

Hence you are wrong. You said "I play games because the process of doing so is fun. If I'm not having fun, I stop playing. No arbitrary rewards are necessary." in reply to my pokemon example, an implication that trophies are not part of having fun. Since you claimed you understood my pokemon example and stated "I understand your point, it's just wrong." directly before "I play games..." that means you had to think my pokemon example was saying trophies are fun, and you said I was wrong, effectively saying they are not fun.
You are now contradicting yourself, as you have now said gamers have different opinions of trophies (which includes being fun) where as originally your claim was they were only 'arbitrary rewards' and not fun.
So you were wrong, and have now accidently admitted it in an indirect way.

There is no contradiction. Obviously what I post is my own opinion. I do not claim it as any kind of gospel truth. What is not fun to me is obviously fun to some others, and what is wrong to me may be right to you. But popular opinion does not equal any kind of objective truth, which you of all people should appreciate given your distaste or the incredibly popular Call of Duty.
