These messages are why I sometimes hate Sony. Why wouldn't they just learn from Nintendo (excluding Reggie LOL) and let gamers decide for themselves what is the best place to play? they're obsessed into convincing us that their thing is the best and everyone else is far behind.

What I read was: "Sony's trying to advertise... I don't like the way they're doing it."

Which leaves me very confused.

It's possible to do excellent advertising without making yourself look like a dick.

The reason PS4 is getting all the hype isn't arrogance but the system's policies, specs and heritage. Sony doesn't seem very confident in that as they are obssessed with offending their competitors, claiming they're the best, and clinging to buyers.

I'm sure if they change thier attitude, and cut buyers some slack, it'd work better for them and they would win the hearts of many undecided gamers. Instead of claiming their console is the best place to play (without a doubt as how Andrew House says it) they can just show us how great the console is, reveal its offerings, and then let journalism and word of mouth do the rest.

I'm not buying a PS4 because Sony tells me to. I'm buying it because I like what it has to offer.

I dont think the add is forcing you to buy playstation but stating policies that they want to stick with this gen. I also dont think the advert is them being a dick, its them letting the consumer know that this is our console that we are selling as a buisness to gamers for gamers (it might be bullshit but its the business model they seem to be going by) . Since Wii U (so far) is a dissapointment and people are confused about xbox one, they want to be direct and tell people that "this is what we stand for." Gaming is a huge industry with alot of money on the line and it seems like there adverticments are favorable amoung most gamers. Therefore it works. (anything is better then there first ps3 adds.....*shudders*)
