I still find it a tad strange they went for just panning left and right when in Super Stardust you spanned across a globe. Similar gameplay regardless so I am all about it. He is right about competitive incentive.

Me and my ex BF went through a phase where we were all about SSHD. I decimated his score one day and so then he became super determined to be mine. He played it everyday for a week before he finally blew mines out of the water!

.....I'm still trying to beat his score till this day :/
If it counts for anything, he cheated because my game got the superman glitch after my 3rd run so he pulled the plug out lmao what an ass.

I think they said they opted for that so they could implement gravity.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
