Yeah that debate was over a long time ago.
Probably a better argument is diminishing returns. That sometimes next gen games dont look all that much better than current ones (we'll see if that's still true in 2-3 years though).
Even if you buy all the nonsense secret Wii U GPU power theories and whatnot, it still wouldn't change that Wii U has 1GB of game RAM vs 5GB in PS4/X1. That alone is a huge insurmountable gap even if the Wii U GPU was exactly as powerful as PS4's (of course it's nowhere close)
