I'm not sure why you think companies other than Apple and Samsung are doing so well, given that they together are making a loss.

1) Its about the same problem as the bundled windows on computers vs the overpriced Macintosh some years ago.

2) Agreed, till the latest data proves otherwise, Apple is just more profitable and that's were the money is. Like Blackberry before the sunden fall.

3) It is? Why do you grab on those 75M from Apple overall, including the outdated and shitty devices, and compare to the other brands but only including high end ? Samsung alone trumps Apple in device sales counting all models and prices of smartphones, if you put the others into that, you got what you have in the thread title. Android dominance. Sorry but this is so obvious and known for quite a while that I don't know how can you not see it.

4) Grab a calculator to understand how the apple marketshare has been shrinking at a rapid pace for the last 5 years and how that's gonna affect the future of a company that once was double the value it is now. It lowered its value because of android and lack of innovation. Blackberry all over again.
