Slimebeast said: All those bugs are funny. I never mind bugs and I never mind unpolished games that are a bit rough around the edges. And the graphics in Ryse are incredible. But I smell a bad game here. The gameplay just isn't there. Like someone said, we can't forget this game started as an on-rails Kinect title. That in combination with a console launch release is guaranteed to mean a bad game. ~70% Meta and sales flop. |
Maybe in your book but I have played many 70% meta games and enjoyed them a lot. I also have played many 90 meta games and wished I spent that money on something else. Also, I am betting we have not seen 10% of the game if even that much. I know from my experience, I try not to judge a game to much from a demo because most times it's not enough of of the game to base an opinion. Even worst trying to base an opinion on a game you haven't even played yet.
When all is said and done, the people who have played the game says its fun so thats a much bigger recommendation for the game then people who look at gifs and form a negative opinion.

Well I adore Dante's Inferno, 74% Meta.
I dearly love Two Worlds II, 67% Meta.
And I loved Hunted: The Demon's Forge, 61% Meta.
So I certainly agree that a Metacritic score doesn't mean everything.
But usually a 70% Meta game is a bad game. Especially as I believe the score of Ryse will be somewhat inflated by a few reviewers giving it relatively high scores out of pity or out of spite.
To me it seems we've been allowed to see large portions of Ryse already. We've seen the arena and several levels from the campaign, the beach, city and the swamp and more. I would say I have gotten a great feel for what this game is about.
~70% Meta. Remember you read it here first.
