In that case, why have the discussion in the first place? Obviously, Nintendo does their own thing, so that makes Sony the status quo winner anyway. Great.

I cannot credit Nintendo with starting the next gen if they aren't ushering in the titles that are going to be pushing what next gen is all about. I'll be consuming their product, but they are next gen in their own way. Technically speaking they've left third parties outside of Japan with very little to go off of. Its generally the third parties and first party who start off the gen on the consoles and we'll be seeing if they deliver on the other brands consoles. The industry needs to be revitalized after the past year. I think its going to happen.

Can't say I disagree. Nintendo blew this year. I have only seen one game so far that looks next gen to me on Wii U, X, but at the same time seeing Nintendo franchises in general in HD is enough for me to define it next gen. That's obviously something you, as a not-so-into-Nintendo fan wouldn't agree with in the same way. :p
