The Xbox One will do just fine. I'm expecting something around a 55/45 split in North America and England. The rest of the world should lean toward the PS4, though it will obviously be much closer in some regions than in others.

The thing is, a lot of people were fooled by the 360 "leading" the PS3. For most of its lifetime, the PS3 had a much higher rate of sale, which indicates that the Playstation brand has remained stronger than the Xbox brand. The assumption many had that the next Xbox would continue to grab market share had little basis.

I think that the "casual core" will favor the XO. Kinect games, CoD, possibly Madden will keep it a popular console in North America. It will also be popular with technology and television aficionados. Millions of people who feel invested in Live with achievements and lots of friends will return with little hesitation. The Xbox brand will be just fine.
