They kind of have to do it. Keep a good relationship between them and all the major publishers. They can't afford to have the developers show up on their live show or whatever and be like yea..that game. We gave that one a 6 or something. 


Well, if that's the case, then the game media is nothing but a marketing arm of the software publishers.  If we can't get honest information about games with an unbiased opinon.  That's the whole point of journalism, or at least it's supposed to be.

If I wanted to hear about how great CoD Ghosts is, and not about how it actually is, then I would just go to Activision's site and read the promotional material.

This is a major challenge for gaming sites, being ad driven in income can be a great disadvantage. I don't think anyone will forget the Kane & Lynch trouble. I stopped caring about reviews a long time ago, they simply hold no value for me since the 7th gen started.
