They kind of have to do it. Keep a good relationship between them and all the major publishers. They can't afford to have the developers show up on their live show or whatever and be like yea..that game. We gave that one a 6 or something. 

IGN would stop getting their freebies and paid trips to go play the game before it comes out if they didn't give good scores. ;)

And I say that as someone who thinks Ghosts deserves a solid 8/10. (While prior games like MW2, MW3, ad BO1 should hve gotten 5-7/10)
