Have you ever had one of those games where things just ... go your way? I don't even mean that you were particularly on your game or your enemies were super bad, but that you simply played competently against competent opponents and all the lucky breaks just went your way?

I was jungle Poppy. I was initially going to start blue but I always ask if people would rather I start red (to gank top sooner after blue). Our top (who was Vayne) made a comment that I thought was disparaging a blue start but turned out to be just amazed that I had that many games as Poppy. But thinking she wanted me to start red put me in a good position to respond to an invasion. They chased our bot lane guys back to about the golem area and I ran in behind them for a wall stun and first blood. (I hadn't yet leveled my regular W jungle start so when I needed it I leveled E.) I got killed but FB was worth it. I started with the jungle stone!

After doing blue and red I decided to try ganking mid. It just so happened that as I went into the river the enemy Orianna was about to leave the river to enter my jungle. So I wall stunned her ass, did a bunch of damage and chased her through her own jungle for the kill. Sweet!

I was messing around in their red jungle thinking I might gank top lane when I see maokai at red buff just about to kill it and his health was relatively low. So I wall stunned him and did some damage, he flashed away but I think our mid lane got him. Then I had to retreat from the enemy Cho'Gath. He hit me with his knockup and I was like "well he will probably ult me now." But no! He was only level 5! Or possibly it was just on cooldown, but anyway he didn't have his ult and I survived.

There were probably a couple more things like that, but at that point I was pretty fed, and fed champs like Poppy make their own luck. The rest of the team wasn't doing as well as me, particularly the Vayne top (vs. Cho) but they were doing fine or at least adequately, and we didn't throw too much, so we won. We had taken their bot inhib and Baron and won a teamfight and then they surrendered because it was pretty much GG anyway.

As you can see I certainly did play competently but a lot of how I did so well was due to things basically falling in my lap, due neither to masterful planning on my part nor egregiously bad play on the enemy's part. All I had to do was have the good reaction to take advantage of it instead of give the enemy time to recover from their bad fortune.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
