call me old school, but i get a system for the games i like and to play games. if a friend of mine has the same system thats a bonus, but i get the system for me, not for my friends. so this just doesnt make sense. why fork out an extra 100$ for a system just because yours friends have it?

I guess because they don't want to drop out of that social circle. Imaine if you have a COD clan, all your mates are getting one console and you're the only one getting the other.
That said, I wouldn't base my choice on that as I'm not big into multiplayer.

Makes sense. I'm a Playstation/Nintendo guy myself and it amazes me how the poster overlooked that. These days social networking is a huge part as to why people play games to begin with. Not to me personally but I know it is to a lot of gamers and it never bothered me.

I didn't overlook it, I just see a giant flaw in the mindset. If maintaining the Social Circle is the only requirement, everyone could simply buy a PS4 with most of the same social functions, more powerful, and cheaper to have that same experience. Shit they could even go with the WiiU if the multiplayer games are there as well. Especially when they verbally state that they think the other is better route.
