I don't think a paid subscription for games service would really suit Nintendo, as I couldn't imagine Nintendo offering any of their top game for a subscription based service. When they could make more money by selling them through the current retail channels or eshop at near full price for many years to come as is the the case with a lot of Nintendo games. Without the systems top games a subscription services will unlikely be able to gain the necessary subscribers to make it worth while.
I think Nintendo time would better spent in get a proper personal Nintendo digital accounts service up in place and to improve their Virtual console games line up. A lot of people would do unspeakable things for the chance to replay GBA,SNES & N64 on the 3DS and Gamecube on the Wii U :).
