Look at what the more powerful consoles were though. Either they were the most expensive (sometimes way overpriced), beaten to the punch by a console that was already highly successful, or had no previous history in the industry. What if the Steambox is more powerful than the PS4?  I have no clue because I haven't been keeping up with any news regarding the supposed system.  Sure your point still stands but if another competitor jumps into the race offering higher specs along with higher price then it will continue the streak of highest powered system not selling the most.

So in fact the Steambox will probably be the most powerful if you custimize it.

There will be more than 1 steambox and they will likely get new models atleast yearly

Steamboxes are different setups priced at different price points. It can be cheaper or more expensive depending which one you buy. But you can change/add parts later on.

 

 

I honestly dont see MS selling better than competition unless it's willing to remove kinect and sell the console with atleast 150$ lower price. Right now only concrete reason to get it is for the exclusives for gaming. The fact that 100$ cheaper console is more powerful is just too good of a perk to miss, PS4 also has exclusives and who knows about the future exclusives at this point.
