Sure they did..you believe them? Or do you think it likely Nintendo's business side 'nudged' them tto make DKC instead of say, Metroid?

Point being, you don't have hard evidence to back up this conspiracy theory.

Conspiracy Theory? Their best selling game was DKC, you think Retro has the power to 'choose' what games they want to make? Conspiracy theory lol.

The problem I have here is that you seem to believe that it's impossible for Retro Studios to want to develop another DKC game.

I do remember that the producer of the game mentioned that DKC was one of the most difficult games they had to make and that there wouldn't be a sequel. I'll try to find the link. But I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that I don't believe Retro has the power to 'choose' what they want to make and instead were being guided by the suits. Which I don't have a problem with it. DKC looks to be an amazing game.

All I'm claim is that interests may very well align, considering that's now DKCR was born. Retro had previously expressed interest in creating a new DKC game, and Miyamoto was looking for a developer capable of making it happen.

I do recall the interview you're mentioning (pretty sure the difficulty came from DKCR being Retro's first side-scrolling platformer... a sequel should be much easier as long as it's based off the same framework, right?), but I believe the denial of a sequel came from Tenabe, not anyone from Retro. And all he said was "there are no plans" for a sequel. That was less than three moths after DKCR came out, so the plans could've easily changed.
