Recently, Resolution/Framerate are arguably favored over a slight details/effects advantage. Perhaps it's a marketting strategy. you can brag that your version runs at higher resolution while you can't really explain details/effects with numbers.

BF4 appeared to have a slightly higher detail on the Xbox ONE version in Eurogamer's comparison. Of course the PS4 had its own advantages but 900p resoultion seems to cause PS4 a trouble to keep up in some areas.

No. PS4 had a much higher resolution, an on average better frame rate, and better lighting while being identical to XBOXE on everything else. Look at footage captured by places that used the provided equipment.

Also saying "Recently, Resolution/Framerate are arguably favored over a slight details/effects advantage" is just incorrect. Devs almost always sacrifice image quality if they can get better looking effects.

*BF4 on XBOX ONE will get AO with a patch.

True but Sony perhaps saw that "a possible/insignificant" texture/detail sacrifice for resolution/framerate is a better strategy to go with than having little advantage in details while abandoning higher res and framerate. I mean a developer will undeniably reach the point where it becomes difficult to choose between detail/effects and resolution/framerate. Otherwise 1080p wouldn't exist.

You can always make your games look better in lower resoultion if you exploit the hardware, and yet, 1080p and, one day, 4K will become the new standards for gaming. As soon as you upgrade your game to the higher resoultion, you're automatically sacrificing detail.

And maybe it's just me but Some BF4 screenshots looked blurrier on the PS4 version despite the higher res.

Lots of them did. It's really odd.
