I wonder if the wiiU will be like another gamecube... All these epic games that its gonna have that everyone will talk about and "remember" but no one actually buys the console... Cause damn son, the wiiU really is looking to have really good games but the sales aren't looking too good. I hope 2014 will be different though

When we're little, whatever our "first experiences" are will always be remembered more fondly than they really were. The reason the Gamecube and it's games (see WW for example) are more popular now online than they were when the system was alive and kicking, is because the little kids at the time are now 20 somethings and the Gamecube was their intro into the world of Nintendo and it's IP.

I am 34, and apart of the NES gen, so I can give a more accurate depection of what Gamecube was. That console was considered to be a waste of money in much of the same way Wii-U is now. It didn't have a DVD player, it had almost no online to speak of, no third party support etc. All it could do was play games, and people wanted more than that. On the games side of it, people felt the titles were weak N64 clones. People felt WW was too easy, too repetitive (sailing) and thought it was pretty much a slap in the face. The same can be said for just about ALL of the Gamecube titles with the exception of SSBM,Metroid Prime, F-Zero and....maybe Pikmin. Though most considered it too "cute" and "kiddy" to care.

Overall, it wasn't liked and it's games, rejected. I know now, it's looked highly upon but that's because, like I said, the kids have all grown up and have let nostalgia delude their views.

So is it wrong that I like it more than the NES and N64? :P
