Disappointing. Picture quality became more and more important to me over the last years. I really expected 1080p to become the console standard but it seems like we still need more power. Epics demand of 2.5 Tflop consoles was appropriate in hindsight.

But what can you do its clear that consoles have a limited power/size/money budget so they have to compromise somewhere. I guess most people dont care so why would Sony or MS the ones that care are PC gamers anyway.

Please don't generalize because of one game.

On PS4, this game is the only one confirmed upscaled game. ALL the others confirmed (or rumored) are native 1080p (not upscaled). I would assume, considering the past history of resolutions of games for PS3 (GTA4 vs 5 and even slightly so the Battlefield games), that it would probably be the last upscaled one.

Look statistically at the facts, not hit and miss (I look closely to BF4 but ignore the 32 others launch games). If 97% (as for the launch)  of PS4 games are 1080p native, then one could call the PS4 the ideal 1080p console.

Even on moderately powerful PC, you can't reach 100% 1080p (or over this resolution) native games.

All the others are native 1080p ? Well I agree if the quota is as high for native 1080p for the PS4  as the quota for 720p for the PS3 its fine. Still 4k is a huge jump so the jump in Processing Power has to be bigger for PS5 to handle that.

Well, yes, all the 32 others are confirmed or rumored 1080p.

The same for the next years Sony first parties (except for the Order which will have black borders, anyway no blurry upscaling), all the EA sports games (here also XboxOne would have apparently 1080p), Watchdogs, Thief, Capcom Deep Down, all Indies games etc. All those games are confirmed or rumored FullHD (but strongly because we have for instance beautiful 1080p, at 60fps!!, feeds of Deep Down that show clearly  full HD image quality).

For more info I would advise you to consult NeoGaf Next Gen Confirmed/Rumored resolution thread. It is really interesting and eye opening, objectively of the real facts.

For those stats of the launch games alone, we could even think that the PS4 will have more 1080p games comparatively than the PS3 had 720p games. The stats are objective and don't lie.
