Yes, but you can use most USB external disc drive: cheaper ones like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SE-208DB-TSBS-Portable-External/dp/B008X0TX0W/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1382876139&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=Extrnal+disc+drive

It doesn't have to be the more expensive superdrive.. Just make sure it says mac compatible
