As some people have partially pointed out, this is related to modern life, wealth and access to contraception. Europe and japan got there first, but this is happening all over the world. Global population will eventually stabilize. Yes, birth rates in many countries are too low, but this wont last forever. Look at these videos from Hans Rosling and RELAX:
