Id say more like 5 years, I know 2011 wasnt an amazing year for Wii but it sold 11.5m that year compared to 13.8m for 360 and 14.7m for PS3. Far from being dead at that point and selling comparably to the competition.

Nintendo reported their first profit loss the year after the Kinect came out. Its a fact that the casuals had somethng to do with it. We knew it was a downward spiral from that point on. Sometimes I wonder how long the Wii hype would've lasted if the Kinect wasn't such a casual success.

...

It's no coincidence that Wii's sales started to falter once Nintendo's software output slowed down and then eventually dwindled.

Don't know why you're trying to push this idea that Kinect took Wii down and that it's the 'casuals' fault (as usual).

And didn't Nintendo cite 3DS' troubles and a strong yen as the main reason for their first profit loss in 3 decades? kinect didn't snatch Wii's customers away en masse, cause Nintendo to make a loss and then, along with those casuals, send Nintendo into a downward spiral like you're implying.
