I agree entirely, if you never had a Wii and you don't want to buy a Wii U right now there's a great lineup of cheap games waiting for you.
Though my favourite local multiplayer game was Mario Strikers Charged. Released in 2007 just after the UK launch of the console, and still a regular "gaming night" fixture because it's just so well balanced. We've had like 10 FIFA games in that time!
RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
