Classic Zelda that people like will sell at least 6 to 8 million, always has always will. With nostalgia heavily powering this game I think it could close to NSBDS numbers. It will sell 17-25 million.

Why would nostalgia cause a game to sell 3x as much as the best selling title in the franchise?

There has not been a Zelda game in this style, with this kind of pedigree for many years. This is what the market wants. I have several friends who are getting a 3DS mostly to play this game. The parents who played 2D Zelda in the eighties and nineties will want their kids to play it. Wii virtual console 2D Zelda sales show a pent up demand for 2D Zelda that has been building. If it does well on 3DS we will also see a top down Zelda on Wii U to complement the AAA Ocarina style we are now accustomed to. Book it.

i understand all of that but 17-25 million is an absolutely unrealistic expectation and there is just no way that is happening

I think it has a chance to crack those numbers lifetime. Look at the insane numbers GTAV did in one week.

Horrible comparison, GTA games have sold over 10 million since 2001.

Ur Mario Kart comparison is valid but thats a series that greatly depends on install base, on N64/GC/Wii It sold roughly 1/3 the Install base of the console It was on, Zelda not so much since it has sold relatively consistantly for almost 30 years now regardless of install base
