I disagree.

I know a lot of people who purchase COD and immediately go online to compete.  Story mode and even achievements don't even factor into their purchasing decision. 

So for dedicated, die-hard SSF gamers, I'm sure KI will be a must play game online against other gamers. 

Then we agree to disagree. KI is bare bones by 1990s standards and it's 2013. The tiny roster just exacerbates the lack of content.
