The 80 million wasn't for the end of September it was for the middle of October. 79.40m is till the end of the month, take Vgchartz number as of the 28th of September and then add on 2 days worth of sales to bring it to the end of September and that gives 78.7m sold. If they had 79.4 at the end of september i doubt MS shipped another 600k in less than 3 weeks. Their announcement was probably premature as well

That's what Microsoft have said themselves, 79.4m shipped as of the 30th September and 80 million shipped was announced on the 17th of October. For this time of year large numbers for shipments are perfectly normal, in fact only shipping an extra 600,000 is quite low for this time of year.
