For the games, DS have a lot of good games and PSP no.

No. No. No. The PSP has a lot of great games. The basic problem with the PSP is that the games are basically scaled down console games. The PSP is the first truly portable CONSOLE. In essence it is a portable PS2. Unfortunately it doesn't differentiate itself from the PS2 offerings of last generation and doesn't get a lot of unique titles. Of course, it's not really set up for unique titles and the missing nub on the right side gimps the controls for proper ports (which may or may not help, but it would have been nice).

The PSP does differentiate itself itself in its multi-media capabilities. Although the evidence is sketchy at best and mostly anecdotal it seems the PSP is selling well on the strength of its multi-media capabilities. It's an interesting conundrum. People have bought it as a on-the-go video and music machine and aren't really interested in the software. So how does Sony or a third party make a title that will draw those people into the gaming market? The Monter Hunter series is actually proof of this. MH went from the PS2 to the PSP. It's a console franchise that continues to do well on a portable console.

The problem with piracy on the PSP is certainly a factor but over rated IMHO. All of my nieces and nephews have a PSP that they use to play one game (Need for Speed) and everything else is UMD movies (imagine that) and MP3's. They have no idea how to connect to the internet or what CFW is.

All my nieces and nephews also have DS's. The DS is the gaming machine. They play all the usual (nintendogs, Animal Crossing, New Super Mario Bros., Elite Beat Agents, etc. and all that kiddie software. When I ask them what they want for Birthdays or Christmas it's always DS games or a new DS in the latest color. The DS succeeds because it's a gaming machine and it has a lot of great games that appeal to a wide demographic.

But don't diss the PSP. It has a very good library.
