They do need to take a few more risks with new ideas and should've increased their development partners in 2010/2011 or so, so that they would have content available for the Wii U in 2013, but it's too late now.
The Platinum partnership was ok, but they needed 2-3 more of those honestly and some of them should be from the West.
2012 the biggest Wii U game was a Mario platformer, and 2013 the biggest Wii U game is a different Mario platformer ... and the biggest game for 2014 is probably Mario Kart. That's just not getting it done.
It's actually unfair to Mario to really put that franchise under such stress, it's a great franchise, but to have it have to work overtime to sell the Wii U and 3DS is going to wear the franchise out.
Nintendo made a fortune with the Wii and DS, more money should've been invested in making sure the Wii U had more games for 2013, even if it meant 2nd party titles financed by Nintendo.
