Maybe it was not that bad but the point is that he wants them to make new stuff but he then cites two games that he is looking forward to. Both are iterative instead of "new" stuff. I guess the marketing point was somewhat right. All companies can strive to do a good job there. One just needs to look at Audi and Apple. They sell their products on the strengths of marketing more than anything else.
I am sure how good Disney has been in sustaining some of their older franchises and mascots. They were down in the drain and putting B tier stuff before they acquired Pixar. Sure Pirates of Carribean rakes in a billion dollar each time but how many more of those can they make.
I guess there is something to learn from everyone.
